New fan feature – upload photos and art

A new public photo uploader has been added to the site

Please read further for photo posting rules

It has been one of the goals of the site to make sure there is a good user experience – IE: we want the fan’s to get involved. One of the ways we have done this is to integrate the social media sites together to the news, and we have allowed in story comments.  We have also reinstated the forum to which we are getting a small but steady usage.

When we closed the John Lowery Facebook page one concern many fans brought up was how would they be able to share an image.  Well we are putting on trial a new plugin called NextGEN Public Uploader.

This allows, by way of a very simple form on the sidebar of the site, users to upload images from their machine and get it onto a gallery we have called “Fan Photos“.  This is a moderated gallery – your picture will be sent to an assigned email address to await moderation – IE: approval to go live.

Photo posting rules

  • The photo must be yours.  We don’t mind if it is you with John 5, or a picture you have taken of John 5 live on stage – it just has to be yours.
  • It can not just be a picture of you (we’ve been getting a lot of pictures of fans which while nice to see all your faces, many of the images are nothing to do with John 5 specifically)
  • Professional photographers please do not use this system to submit images.  If you are a professional photographer seeking to have your image in the gallery, please email the web manager here
  • We accept fan art of John 5 too.
  • Please make sure to fill out the description box to let us know when the picture was taken and who it belongs to.
  • Please try to make sure the photo is no more than 600 px wide. Although we have an automatic resizing feature built into the plugin, photos that are unduly big will cause the page to load slower.
  • Please submit your photo only once

That’s it!

So please, get uploading now.
