John 5, the multifaceted guitar player who always manages to strike the delicate balance between extreme technical prowess and expressive musical personality across a broad range of musical styles, is a very busy man these days. If you listen to heavier music, chances are you’ll have heard his work at some point, whether it be with Rob Halford, David Lee Roth, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, his own solo work, or the countless other projects he’s guest on.
John 5 will be appearing in the latest (June 2012) issue of Guitar World magazine.
Featuring a photoshoot by Coffin Case founder Jonny Coffin (for which we posted a teaser recently), John 5 talks about “his latest solo album, God Told Me To, and countless side projects, including a recent collaboration with David Lee Roth.”
The magazine is out now and features Slipknot on the front cover.

Few guitarists have been lucky enough to land long term gigs with not one, but 2 of their favorite artists, but then not everyone is John 5. Having played extensively with rock powerhouses Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, not to mention collabs with David Lee Roth, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and childhood hero Paul Stanley to name a few, this legend in the making has also kept us entertained with 7 solo albums; the latest of which, “God Told Me To’” is being released this coming May. Looks like his childhood prayers came true, an amusing thing given his heavily horror themed resume.
