John 5 talks working on his next solo album and other things to Metal Express Radio
Its been a busy year for John 5 already. 2013 has seen the release of Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem, which features John 5′s score, and the latest Rob Zombie album which was primarily written by RZ and John 5. He is currently rehearsing with his fellow RZ bandmates for the Mayhem 2013 tour which starts end of June 2013. He talks with Metal Express Radio about Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, playing with Les Paul, and a little about the next J5 solo album.

Mayhem 2013 starts at the end of June, and John 5 has been busy rehearsing with his Rob Zombie bandmates to bring one of the best live shows out there back onto the festival stage. HAUNTING MEMORIES: JOHN5 AND PIGGY D
Piggy D. plays bass for Rob Zombie, as well as having his own great solo project and work with the band Black Foxx. He’s also a graphic designer and artist, having designed the cover for a Lita Ford album, among others. His debut solo album, The Evacuation Plan, is worth checking out, and songs like “Locust Dance” and “God Save the Queen Bee” are killer. You’ll be able to hear and see his bass playing prowess on his current tour with Rob Zombie.
John Lowery was given the nickname John 5 the day he joined Marilyn Manson’s band. A versatile session guitarist known for his speed as well as his keen goth fashion sense (imagine Brandon Lee in The Crow), after moving to L.A. at 18 he scored high-profile gigs touring with Lita Ford and k.d. lang based on his work scoring soundtracks and commercials with producer Bob Marlette. John 5 sat down at home after Namm, with TC Electronics who make Tone Pedals and other tools for the music player, and conducted not only an interview but a series of videos demonstrating his playing.
In the first video you will see an interview, in the second a demonstration of John 5 creating his “Clean Chorus” TonePrint for the Corona Chorus TonePrint pedal , in the third you will see John 5 demonstrating the ‘warble’ effect on the Toneprint and finally you will see John 5′s tip of the day.

CMM: Who was the guitarist that made you want to play guitar and why guitar?
J5:I used to watch a lot of tv back in the day so I’d say it was the Monkees, the TV show “Hee Haw” and I just really liked the guitar and I was very taken back by that so I think that’s what made me want to start playing guitar first, but my first guitar heros were Ace Frehley, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Van Halen, they took it to the next level for me.
