John 5 recently chatted to the team at WRIF Rocks Detroit’s Meltdown Radio Chatter.

From Meltdown:

I’m really pumped to give you this edition of Radio Chatter. I’ve interviewed John a few times and he never fails to entertain and enlighten. He is one of the most positive guys in this business. I think he wakes up every day pinching himself that he gets to do this for a living and gets to call some of his childhood rock-star heroes, friends. Of course, I had to ask him about how the new Zombie record was coming along….John could not contain his excitement. So excited he compared it to a Beatle record! He talked about how they wrote songs this time around as opposed to the past albums. He told me what he got Rob for his birthday this past week, he explained the crazy story about how he decided to record a live album, scoring films, and a lot more. Oh, he also tells me about a pretty gross ‘Spinal Tap’ moment that might have been TMI. LOL

Metal Nation reviews “It’s Alive”

John 5 and The Creatures Live album 2018

John 5 and The Creatures Live album 2018

Check out this review from Metal Nation about the forthcoming John 5 and The Creatures live album “It’s Alive” out on January 25th.

As always, John 5 has exceeded my expectations and in addition to the Creatures, it is quite frankly a masterpiece. Bassist Ian Ross and drummer Logan Miles Nix cannot be a better fit for John. It is rare to find a bassist who stands out with incredible talent, especially next to one of the greatest guitarists of all time, in my opinion. I have watched enough John 5 and the Creatures videos to become a Ross fan. He is exciting to watch, extremely talented, and sometimes even will steal the show. Logan Miles Nix sets the perfect beat to songs that I cannot imagine would be easy to play. (I am not a drummer, so I do not know). The frequent changes in the music sound complex, but Nix breezes through it as if he is playing at a high school dance. Flawless.”

From Syracuse.com:

Celebrated guitarist John 5 can pinpoint the moment he knew what he wanted to do with his life.

At age seven, John Lowery watched a young Jimmy Henley play banjo on a family variety show called “Hee Haw.” He knew then he had to learn this instrument. Then the guitar. Then the mandolin.

Once he started, he couldn’t stop. Today, he’s an expert in all three.

“It’s crazy there’s this exact moment when I realized I wanted to play,” said John, 47, in a call to syracuse.com. “It changed my life.”

John 5 and The Creatures to release “It’s Alive” album in 2018

John 5 and The Creatures Live album 2018

John 5 and The Creatures Live album 2018

In a recent #AskJohn5 question, John exclusively let fans know he was working on a Creatures live album.

The album, titled “It’s Alive!” is the first live album released by The Creatures. It is also the first album released by John 5 to be featured on vinyl. “I remember pulling up to a beautiful venue that we played in Sellersville, Pennsylvania and before we were unloading the equipment, the soundman said, ‘Hey guys, would you like to record the show?’ We said, ‘sure that would be amazing!’ I always wanted to have a really great recording of the show. We were a few weeks into the show so we were really well rehearsed, so I said, ‘Alright guys, let’s not jump around. Let’s just really try to get a great performance because we only have one shot – no other shows – if we mess up!’ So, we explained to them that we would be recording. You can hear that on the recording of the album, which makes it very magical. It came out amazingly! That’s the magic of live albums to me – capturing the performance.”

The Creatures will be touring in 2018 to promote the album.

Here are the important details:

  • The album will be available on double LP coloured vinyl, and CD.
  • You can pre-order the album at the official John 5 store now: john-5.com/store/. It will be released on January 25th and on the same day on digital formats (streaming and purchasing).
