Before Rob Zombie played their set in Budapest a few days ago, John 5 sat with the folks at rockbook.hu and gave them this interview, where they touched on subjects including working on Zombie’s movie scores, what its like juggling life as a father, husband and rock star, his next album ‘Careful With That Axe’ and his continuing friendship with Manson, Twiggy and Dave Lee Roth.

Check out this VERY cool UNCUT LIVE session video taken from the studio, of John 5 performing the single “This Is My Rifle” from his new album “Careful With That Axe”. Directed by Mr Jonny Coffin, it features Rodger Carter on drums and Dylan Wilson playing bass. Filmed at The Doghouse Studios in LA earlier in the year, the video is part of a collaborative project developed for this album by Jonny Coffin and John 5.

John 5’s brand new single ‘This is my Rifle’, from the forthcoming single ‘Careful with that Axe’ will be available from June 17 on iTunes and everywhere that digital music is available.
The brand new single artwork includes a photo by Ray Gutierrez of StrangeBeautifulArt, who John 5 fans will remember took the photos for the album ‘The Art of Malice’
It was announced via a teaser video, posted on his official website, on Friday (16 May), that Rob Zombie will be working on a new mysterious project called ‘31‘. The film career spanning video, finishes with a cryptic view of a painted mask and the title.
Late last night John 5 announced via his Instagram that he had been picked by Zombie to score the film, making this the second film project John has scored on for Rob (the first being 2013’s The Lords of Salem). In his confirmation message, John said, “Well it’s official Rob has hired me to do the score to his next movie 31, I’m very honored and excited.”

John 5 has announced the name of the first single from his new album, Careful With That Axe, which he has been in the studio to lay down the tracks this Spring. The first single, entitled “Here is My Rifle“, will come out in late July (as will the new album). John 5 has already been filming a video for the single with Coffin Case owner Jonny Coffin (see after the jump for images from Jonny Coffin’s Instagram for sneak peak behind the scene images.
John 5 recently spoke to Loudwire about the album; “Well it’s coming out at the end of July and it’s called ‘Careful With That Axe’ and it’s just crazy, man. ‘Careful With That Axe’ and all the song titles are related around axe murders and stuff, so it all comes around and makes sense.“. He also said this about the single “Well with my record it’s going to be ‘This Is My Rifle.’ It’s really cool and I think people are going to just eat it up.”

Before he goes back on the road with Rob Zombie for touring, John 5 went back to The Doghouse Studio in Los Angeles on Friday (28 March) to continue to lay down tracks for his next solo album, Careful with that Axe. John 5 is joined in the studio and on the album by Rodger Carter (drummer/owner of The Doghouse), bassist Dylan Wilson and a few guests whom you may or may not know – more news on guest appearances coming in the future.

As well as being locked in the studio to begin working on his new solo album “Careful with that Axe“, John 5 has teamed up with Jonny Coffin (Coffin Case founder) for what Jonny describes as “shooting and directing the John 5 miniseries for the new upcoming j5 solo album / DVD”. Coffin previously worked with John 5 on the DVD for God Told Me To in 2012. He says in regards to the new DVD “this one will be a Monster!!”.
Now he has posted a picture of himself tracking the new album in the Doghouse Studios in LA. You can see that above. Watch out for more news soon!
Indegoot represented photographer Rob Fenn has teamed up with John 5 to offer the “Autographed Series: John 5”. This photo comes from page 92 of the upcoming photo book Rob Zombie and Rob Fenn did titled ‘The Zombie Horror Picture Show’. It was snapped on stage in Scranton, PA during the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in July 2013.
Each John 5 canvas is signed and numbered by Rob Fenn, and autographed by John 5! John is also offering “a guitar pick with every canvas sold!“
