[Interview] John 5 talks to the Huffington Post: “I appreciate and love music so much. This album is really who I am”.
“As much as his collaborations have varied, his own solo material runs the gamut even more displaying influences of everything from heavy metal and hard rock all the way to country and bluegrass.
Recently, John 5 released his solo project Season of the Witch, an album he rolled out in an interesting fashion by releasing music videos first before any of the actual music. I got to chat with John 5 recently about growing up in Michigan, why he took that route releasing his music, and the differences in making his own music compared writing for others.”

FOR AUCTION: Personal John 5 guitar signed by John 5, Rob Zombie & friends for the Ruben Velasco Legacy Fund
As many of you will recall, a few months ago, John 5’s good friend Ruben Valesco – also his guitar tech on many tours – passed away after a valiant fight against stage 4 cancer. Since then the Ruben Velasco Legacy Fund has been set up in honor of him and his love of protecting the health and safety of animals.
John 5 has given away this very personal gift to the charity to be auctioned – a gold Squier Telecaster named “Son of Goldie” (in reference to his main gold Telecaster people see him with) and has got a bunch of friends to sign it too.
This was his personal instrument for many years, played on stage while on tour with Rob Zombie. Several marks on the guitar show the instrument’s well-worn patina and recall his frenetic head-banging style. Accompanying its authentic marks are autographs from his fellow musicians: Rob Zombie, Billy Idol, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), and John 5 himself.
This rare piece of music memorabilia is a vision in gold, and comes with a matching headstock, hardware, and a mirrored pickguard. Sales from this guitar will benefit The Fur and Feather Animal Sanctuary and Ruben’s Legacy.
