J5 speaks to LA Weekly about his show at the Whisky: “It’s gonna be insane”.

From LA Weekly:

John 5 knows a thing or two about showmanship. After all, the enigmatic and gifted guitarist has proven his worth performing alongside David Lee Roth, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie — three of the greatest and more theatrical hard-rock frontmen.

He’s stood right next to these guys and studied them, taking mental notes of every move, every utterance, every stage prop that they used to keep their crowds enthralled. And the work was worth it because, with his band The Creatures, John 5 finds himself the center of attention.”

John 5 speaks to the East Valley Tribune; “There’s a connection during those shows. It’s really wonderful”.

From East Valley Tribune:

Donning extravagant costumes while on tour with Rob Zombie, guitarist John 5 is used to having sweat in his eyes and makeup running down his face. For the native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Arizona’s intense heat makes it even better, he said.

“Usually when we tour with Rob Zombie, it’s the summer,” John 5 said. “They call me the ‘lizard’ because I love it. I’ll be outside and everybody else will in the air conditioning. It’s really weird. I love it. I sweat and everything, but I love it.”

When John 5 returns to the Valley on Wednesday, April 4, as a solo artist, he’ll play indoors at Club Red in Mesa.”

John 5 talks to In The Loop about touring, KISS and the forthcoming Rob Zombie album

From In The Loop Magazine:

In The Loop Magazine’s Christopher David recently had a chat with guitar legend in the making, John 5. John 5 has been around for some time now playing with iconic industrial metal bands like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, but he’s been building his own fan base strong for many years as well with his own solo work.

John 5 and The Creatures played at Reggies Rock Club in Chicago to a completely packed house filled with fans from all his works. This is his third time around with the Creatures and each time has grown larger and larger. So much so that if he does this again next year, might need to look into a larger venue.”

Let’s put it out on vinyl because it really feels like an old-time record,” he says. “Because there was no overdubs; there wasn’t anything done to this record. John 5 also talks about his relationship with Rob Zombie “…the guy’s taught me so much about the business, and he’s taught me so much in general. So I’m thankful for him“.

John 5 and The Creatures will make a return run to Sellersville, PA, to play in the venue that is the birth-place of the “It’s Alive” album. He speaks to the Philly Voice about how it came to be, what he’s learnt from the many front-men he has supported and more.

From Philly Voice:

He [John 5] was surprised when a Sellersville sound engineer asked him two years ago if he would like his show recorded.

“I said, ‘Yes, no problem. That would be cool.’ It was a privilege to record at the Sellersville Theater. It’s so close to Philadelphia, but it’s just outside the city and it has its own vibe going on. It’s a charming place. I love playing the intimate venues with great acoustics.”

[Review] John 5 and The Creatures are “absolutely masterful”.

John 5 and The Creatures review tour Ink19

John 5 and The Creatures review tour Ink19

Ink19.com were at The Social in Orlando, FL on February 1, to see John 5 and The Creatures on their “It’s Alive” tour.

The entire troupe was absolutely masterful – playing more precisely than most people can even think. For his part, J5 slayed ’em all – big guitars, little guitars, banjos too. And he wowed the faithful further when attacking an oil-filled, clear acrylic Telecaster with a violin bow, a la Jimmy Page. But he “closed” the deal with a unique, retina-searing, multi laser-shooting Telecaster. Truly impressive.”
