John 5 talks to ONSTAGE REVIEW ahead of #famousmonsterstour start

Tonight boils and ghouls, John 5 and The Creatures start their FAMOUS MONSTERS tour with special guests Wednesday 13 and Hellzapoppin Circus Revue. Ahead of the show, which will take place at The Blue Note in Harrison, OH, John had a phone interview with ONSTAGE REVIEW who asked John questions such as his favourite TV there tune (and what was the first one he learnt to play), his early bands in school, keeping the name John and Mozart; “You know, I love Mozart. I love the story of Mozart and he was a REAL…they say he was the only REAL genius in…you know, the history of man because of the fact he was doing all these things as a baby, as a kid, you know, as like a 4 year old, a 5 year old, a 6 year old.

He also clears up how a throwaway joke comment made by best friend Nikki Sixx, suddenly became an internet rumour, then a number of articles….. “You know, me and Nikki are like best friends … we’re just … always says funny, silly things, you know, on Instagram in our comments … so he was just saying that on the Instagram comments.”

J5 speaks to LA Weekly about his show at the Whisky: “It’s gonna be insane”.

From LA Weekly:

John 5 knows a thing or two about showmanship. After all, the enigmatic and gifted guitarist has proven his worth performing alongside David Lee Roth, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie — three of the greatest and more theatrical hard-rock frontmen.

He’s stood right next to these guys and studied them, taking mental notes of every move, every utterance, every stage prop that they used to keep their crowds enthralled. And the work was worth it because, with his band The Creatures, John 5 finds himself the center of attention.”

John 5 speaks to the East Valley Tribune; “There’s a connection during those shows. It’s really wonderful”.

From East Valley Tribune:

Donning extravagant costumes while on tour with Rob Zombie, guitarist John 5 is used to having sweat in his eyes and makeup running down his face. For the native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Arizona’s intense heat makes it even better, he said.

“Usually when we tour with Rob Zombie, it’s the summer,” John 5 said. “They call me the ‘lizard’ because I love it. I’ll be outside and everybody else will in the air conditioning. It’s really weird. I love it. I sweat and everything, but I love it.”

When John 5 returns to the Valley on Wednesday, April 4, as a solo artist, he’ll play indoors at Club Red in Mesa.”

[Listen] John 5 chats to Alternative Press’ Cautionary Tales

From Alternative Press’ Cautionary Tales:

A look through super-guitarist John 5’s resumé looks like an overview of contemporary rock history. Before he cemented his world-class abilities recording and touring with bona fide rock stars as Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and David Lee Roth, the artist formerly known as John Lowery crossed playing paths with everyone from Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander to k.d. lang to Madonna to members of KISS to Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, as well as writing and playing with some of your favorite bands (Halestorm, Escape The Fate, Hollywood Undead). So when he stopped by the AP office for a brief chat, we knew he had some stories to tell.”

John 5 speaks to Revolver about the albums that made him

From Revolver Magazine:

What it all comes down to, and what John 5 makes clear in the following interview, is that regardless of all the success he’s had as a solo artist or playing alongside everyone from Rob Zombie to Marilyn Manson to Rob Halford to David Lee Roth, he’s still as much of a fan as he ever was. “All these records that I’m talking about here, I listen to them still today,” he says. “I’m still obsessed with Kiss. I’m still obsessed with Van Halen. I guess we don’t change that much from being kids.” He laughs. “Either we don’t change that much or we just have really good taste.”

John 5 has been around for some time now playing with iconic industrial metal bands like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, but he’s been building his own fan base strong for many years as well with his own solo work.

John 5 and The Creatures played at Reggies Rock Club in Chicago to a completely packed house filled with fans from all his works. This is his third time around with the Creatures and each time has grown larger and larger. So much so that if he does this again next year, might need to look into a larger venue.”

John 5 features in the March edition of Guitar Player Magazine. He also chats with them on their website.

From Guitar Player:

John 5 certainly knows how to entertain. His stage persona, his inventive videos, and his other gig playing arenas with Rob Zombie certainly attest to his larger-than-life charisma. But there’s much more to John 5’s performances than showbiz. He is a consummate technician who can shred some metal, and then zoom through Joe Maphis-inspired country swing—all on his signature Telecasters. Obviously, maintaining such high-level chops takes commitment
